We understand that for our clients that rely on cellular connections for their players' connectivity, data usage is a very important issue.

If that is the case, here are some steps that you can follow that should reduce how much bandwidth your players are consuming.

Consider the size of the content you are sending and also the frequency with which you update or publish presentations and/or playlists.

Review how often you need your players to ping Zynchro, and reduce if viable.

To reduce the frequency of the ping timer, go to System Config>Settings.

Click on the  Health tab and change the frequency from 1 minute to less often (as desired).

Though the ability to get snapshots of your players output is a  key element of Zynchro, you might consider turning this option off, if so, please contact us so that we can help you determine if this might work for you.

The data usage of your analytics module is also a key determinant of your bandwidth consumption and highly variable. It is determined by both, how much interaction your display is experiencing (so a highly successful or attractive campaign might be more costly) and also by how your content is created and tagged.

If you are using an attract loop, a simple strategy that can help you reduce your data usage is to create a much longer video (5 or 10 minutes) with your attract video looping through its duration. This is helpful because each time that your attract video plays, it generates a line in your analytics, and we count it as a session. The more sessions you have, the more data usage there will be.

Finally, please keep in mind that an unstable internet connection can also greatly affect your bandwidth consumption, especially when a player is trying the send data to Zynchro, because it will begin uploading the information, but if it is unable to complete the process, it will try to send it anew (not just the files that were unable to load initially) until it is successful.

Please see What is the estimated data usage per player? For more information.
